Kenya Launches Online Filing Platform for IP Applications

On 24 November 2025, Kenya’s Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) launched e-Citizen, an online filing platform for national industrial property applications, enabling users to file patent, industrial design, and utility model applications and make payments electronically.

Previously, certain filings required physical documentation, which often led to procedural delays. The new online platform now offers real time access and integrated electronic payments, aligning Kenya’s practices with international standards and advancing KIPI’s broader efficiency initiatives.
