Algeria Joins the Hague Apostille Convention
Following Algeria’s accession to the Hague Apostille Convention on 5 November 2025, the Convention will enter into force for Algeria on 9 July 2026.
From that date, supporting documents required for IP matters in Algeria – such as deeds of assignment, merger documents, change of name certificates, licence agreements, and declarations of use – may be submitted with an Apostille instead of undergoing the traditional consular legalisation process, provided they are issued in a Contracting State.
The practice for Powers of Attorney remains unchanged, requiring only a signature and a separate Power of Attorney for each mark and each matter, including filings, renewals and recordals.
