Kazakh IPO Grants Patent to Adai Horse Breeders
The Kazakh Intellectual Property Office recently granted a patent for Kazakh horse breed ‘Adai’ to the Association of Adai Horse Breeders. Rigorously evaluated for its scientific pedigree and adherence to patentability standards such as novelty, distinctiveness, and stability, Adai has now ascended to the status of a national brand.
The patent, which grants the patent holder exclusive rights and a 30-year protection period, encompasses the Adai breed itself, as well as two distinct types and three breeding lines. Years of meticulous research aimed at identifying and refining the defining characteristics of the Adai breed are now legally safeguarded. This provides horse breeders with additional tools to preserve, propagate, and elevate the Adai lineage while simultaneously bolstering the popularity of Kazakh equestrian traditions, including the horse-related Kokpar and Baige games.
Originating in the Aral-Caspian lowlands through generations of selective breeding, the Adai breed epitomizes resilience and adaptability to harsh local environmental conditions. Renowned for their robust physique, exceptional endurance, and impeccable conformation, Adai horses have consistently impressed both domestically and internationally at numerous competitions.
