Michiel Grobler

Michiel specializes in patent specification drafting, patent prosecution and patent litigation. His background in pharmaceutical science is beneficial when handling patent applications for clients from related industries. He has successfully represented clients before the Court of the Commissioner of Patents and the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa. Michiel also heads the foreign renewals department.

Before joining the firm in 2012, Michiel worked for eight years as a product development manager for Sandoz, a multi-national pharmaceutical company specializing in the development of ‘off-patent’ (biosimilar and generic) medicines. Michiel was responsible for developing generic products from lab scale to full production scale. At Sandoz, he gained valuable experience in oral dosage formulation and pharmaceutical process design.
