Q&A with Florentina Grubi-Vula

Based in CWB Kosovo office, Senior Associate Florentina Grubi-Vula focuses on trade mark prosecution and enforcement. She manages large multinational IP portfolios, handles court and customs disputes, and provides strategic brand protection advice. We talked to Florentina about her work, her life outside the office, her favourite dishes, and more.

  1. What led you to work in the IP field?
Florentina_IP

I love the diversity of this field. It starts with simple branding elements like names and logos, and extends all the way to advanced technology and fine art.

  1. What has been your favorite project or proudest professional achievement so far?

Becoming a licensed attorney is a proud achievement, and it feels meaningful to continue my parents’ legacy as lawyers.

  1. What are some of the key considerations for protecting IP in the EECA region?

Pay attention to local regulations and practices and seek out consultations prior to investing in the company's IP.

  1. What are the most common types of IP issues or challenges faced by businesses in Kosovo?

Locally, copycats remain an ongoing issue. Internationally, establishing protection faces significant barriers because Kosovo is not a member of any international IP treaties or organizations.

  1. If you could instantly fix one thing about your country’s IP system, what would it be?

We must foster collaboration between local institutions and provide more support to the private sector.

  1. What field would you be working in if you weren’t working in IP?

Architecture and design.

  1. Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

My main hobbies are yoga, reading, and—believe it or not—crochet!

"The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle provides a beautiful perspective on life.

Relaxing jazz and anything quiet.

  1. What’s your favorite holiday destination?

I'm definitely a summer person, so the seaside is my ultimate getaway, with Italy being my favorite country to visit.

I absolutely love Mediterranean cuisine - you can't go wrong with anything from that region.

  1. If someone came to your city for 24 hours, where would you take them?

A nice walk around the city center, main museums, and a delicious lunch.
