Yuriy advises clients on all aspects of IP protection in Ukraine and other countries in the region, representing them before the courts, law enforcement and customs authorities and the antimonopoly committee. He handles trademark prosecution, unfair competition cases, IP rights assignments, enforcement strategies, settlements, trademark non-use revocation actions and helps clients prevent trademarks from becoming generic. He is also skilled in domain name transfers and Internet-related IP issues, including online infringement and defamation.

Before joining our firm in 2011, Yuriy worked as an in-house IP counsel at the Ukrainian vodka manufacturer Nemiroff, based in Kyiv. Prior to Nemiroff, Yuriy’s practice focused on corporate law.

Experience
  • Represented an Italian wine consortium in unfair competition proceedings against a Ukrainian wine producer who groundlessly used a protected designation of origin mark on the packaging of their products

  • Successfully litigated against the use of an original uniform with a logo of a culinary school by its alumna who advertised her own culinary courses wearing the uniform

  • Represented an international school network and an NGO in trademark infringement cases
