Mara’s practice focuses on trademark and industrial design enforcement in Romania. She handles disputes involving trademark and design infringement, particularly related to e-commerce and unfair competition, as well as domain name disputes. Mara drafts cease and desist letters, negotiates and concludes settlement agreements, and advises clients on all aspects of trademark and design protection. Mara has ample experience representing clients before the Romanian courts, while she also works with the customs and police authorities on the surveillance and seizure of counterfeit goods.
Prior to joining our firm in 2020, Mara worked for five years as an attorney at law and legal consultant at another Romanian IP firm, where she mostly handled disputes involving trademark and domain name infringement and unfair competition.

Assisted major footwear and apparel companies with trademark infringement issues in Romania and Moldova, including with the surveillance and seizure of counterfeit goods

Advised and represented a multinational food, snack and beverage company during its prolonged dispute with a local competitor, including oppositions before the Romanian IPO and trademark cancellation and infringement actions before the courts

Assisted a U.S. media company with the protection and enforcement of its copyrights at the Romanian borders by filing customs watch applications and actively collaborating with customs authorities

Represented an international restaurant chain in court in its trademark infringement and unfair competition dispute with a Romanian restaurant chain
