The Iraqi IPO started implementing two new practices in May 2024:

• It is now possible to file applications for changing the trademark applicant’s name and/or address before the publication stage, so the trademark can be published with the new name and/or address. This was previously only possible after the expiration of the opposition period following trademark publication, and once the registration fees were paid.

• A new requirement has been added for granting trademark licenses – the licensee must submit a feasibility study for their project as part of their application for a trademark license.
