CWB Launches Renaissance and Jarvis to Strengthen our One-Firm Operating Model
We are happy to announce the launch of Renaissance, CWB’s firm-wide business transformation programme, and Jarvis, our AI operating model. Together, the two programmes are designed to strengthen the shared operating foundations behind CWB's integrated international business.
One firm, one operating model
Renaissance brings together the initiatives required to modernise how the firm operates. It covers the systems that run the business, the quality and structure of its data, the standardisation of processes across jurisdictions and the governance around them.
CWB's scale gives clients access to extensive regional capability. Renaissance is intended to make that scale work as one firm: through shared systems, common operating standards, coordinated teams and clear accountability across markets.
The programme is connecting a set of core platforms covering IP rights and prosecution workflows, client and engagement management, finance and HR, document management and day-to-day collaboration. These systems include Anaqua AQX, Microsoft Dynamics 365, iManage, Microsoft 365 and Teams. Each platform remains responsible for the information and processes it is designed to manage, while a common data, integration and governance layer allows relevant information to move between them in a controlled way.
The objective is straightforward: information should be entered once, held in the right system and made available, within the appropriate permissions, wherever needed. A client engagement created on the commercial side should flow into the IP and document environments without teams recreating the same information in different places.
For clients, the intended result is more consistent service, clearer accountability and a more joined-up experience across jurisdictions. For CWB's teams, it means more reliable records, common workflows and better access to the information needed to do their work.
How Renaissance and Jarvis fit together
Built on those foundations, Jarvis defines how AI is introduced into CWB's work. It is not a single tool or a standalone technology project. It is the operating model that determines which systems AI can access, which information it may use, what actions it is permitted to take and where human review, approval and professional judgement remain essential.
Rather than relying on disconnected or unverified sources, Jarvis is designed to work with information held in CWB's governed systems of record under defined access permissions.
Initial use cases are being introduced across knowledge management, conflict checking, matter administration, compliance processes, business services and internal operations.

Human judgement remains central
CWB Chief Technology & AI Officer George Chelala commented: "AI in professional services needs an operating model, tools aren't enough. Gaining access to AI is the easy part. The real challenge is fitting AI into the way a firm actually works. Renaissance creates the reliable data, connected systems, and defined workflows that AI needs, while Jarvis sets the permissions, controls, and human oversight of how those foundations are used."
Group CEO Halim Shehadeh commented: "For us, this is a business transformation programme, rather than a technology programme. It is how we make the promise of one firm real in the way we operate. AI can create real value in our work, but only within a framework that supports accountability, consistency and professional judgement. The challenge with AI isn't getting the right answer. The real challenge is deciding where human judgement ends and delegated authority begins. That's the thinking that sits behind Renaissance and Jarvis."
Renaissance and Jarvis will continue to develop over the coming months, with practitioners, operations teams and technology specialists from across CWB contributing to each new capability.
