CWB Files UAE's First Sound Trade Mark Application
Having filed the first sound trade mark application in the country, CWB is pleased to have set a milestone in the United Arab Emirates in the global trend towards recognising and protecting non-traditional marks. The filing, done for a large international hospitality company, was prepared in close collaboration with officials at the Ministry of Economy, whom we sincerely thank for their guidance and invitation to assist with the filing process. We particularly enjoyed exploring sound trade mark registration practices from various countries around the world as part of our collaboration, finding international best practices, and showcasing the benefits of adopting a more interactive approach to sound trade mark registration.
As brand experiences evolve and become more immersive, sound trade marks, along with other non-traditional trade marks such as scent trade marks and motion trade marks, will continue to play a vital role in building strong emotional connections with consumers. CWB will continue to push boundaries and embrace innovation. We sincerely thank the Ministry for opening this new chapter in the UAE's trade mark landscape, encouraging others to explore the realm of sound trade marks to harness their potential for creating unique and memorable brand experiences.
